How to Sew Pin Tucks the Easy Way
If you love sewing or just curious about how pin tucks are sewn you’ll be pleased to see this post!
I love sewing the most detailed stitches. In haute couture this is a must, especially when it comes to sewing and embellishing fine expensive fabrics. Pin tucks are no exception. They decorate fine fabrics in the most simple yet elegant way! I love them and it’s no wonder the Edwardians did too!
Here is my technique for sewing them perfectly every time. All you need is a ruler, a light pencil or chalk marker if need to mark your line, and …the secret ingredient….tear away fabric stabiliser. Alternatively, you could also use a soluble stabiliser provided you can soak your fabric in water for it to dissolve. I highly recommend sampling your fabric first to not only test which stabiliser is best for your fabric but also which stitch length, tension and thread works best. You could also use an invisible thread to sew pin tucks on tulle.
There are many things to consider for this versatile technique. Watch my video for how to sew pin tucks the easy way.
